A new church can be intimidating.

We understand, because we've all been there. We hope this page helps you know what to expect and to prepare for your visit to Hope City Church. First, just know there is no pressure from us to perform.

Be yourself!

Being authentic is a core value of ours. You'll find people from all walks of life at Hope City. Some of us are bold and talkative, while others are reserved, but warm.

Whether you are new to your faith, or are a longtime follower of Jesus, you belong here!

What's a service like at Hope City?

When you arrive, you will see friendly faces to welcome you in, offer you coffee and refreshments, and give you a gift. One of our values is to love unconditionally and community is a vital part of our worship experience.

  • We will start with heartfelt and vibrant worship songs, with lyrics displayed on the screen. Many will sing and clap along, but you're welcome to participate at the level you are comfortable.
  • There may be announcements and times of prayer at various parts of the service. We will invite people to sit or stand during those times. We will let you know and won't leave you hanging. If you aren't comfortable standing, we understand.
  • One of our pastors or another minister will give a practical Bible-based message. The teaching or preaching will be heartfelt, challenging, practical, and intended to help people know God and live out their faith in their daily lives. Some people may show verbal agreement with the message or even clap in agreement. Don't feel obligated to participate as such.

Everything at Hope City Church is designed to help people be authentic, be renewed, and be hope – which is our mission.

How about my kids?

Currently, Hope City Kids is especially geared for toddlers, ages 2-4 years old, and goes from the very beginning to the very end of service. When you arrive, there will be someone to help you check in your little ones for service. We have dedicated teachers that give their talents to help our children walk closer with God.

For the older kids, we have special sermon coloring pages to help them process what they're learning in the main service.

The heart of children’s ministry at our church is to teach kids about who God is and how His word applies to their lives in creative and memorable ways.

What's the difference between Sundays and Wednesdays?

Sunday services are our big worship gatherings. We sing, have a time of prayer, and hear a message from one of our pastors that helps us know God and encourages us to live out our faith throughout the week.

Wednesdays are discussion-based Bible studies with a small group of people in our pastors' home (with more locations coming soon). Typically we'll take the first 15 minutes to catch up and eat some snacks, then we'll dive into a passage of scripture together.

We'd love you to join us and find community as you discover more about the Bible. We meet on Wednesdays at 7 pm near Wayland Square. Ask us for the address when you plan your visit!

Let’s not make things awkward.

Here’s the deal…

We do things a little differently around here…

We know that it can be a little weird or even awkward going to a church event for the first time… Especially a new church!

That’s why we created Save my seat.

When you sign up to save your seat we’ll:
✅ meet you at the front door
✅ help you get your kids checked in
✅ introduce you around to a few people
✅ save you seats (obviously 😉)
✅ we’ll even sit with you if you want (so you don’t have to sit by yourself)

Just to let you know…

We’ll do those things even if you don’t save your seat… But it does help.

We want to make your first visit as easy as possible, and authentically get to know you and your family.

Pretty crazy idea, right?

Will you come hang out with us for a service?

Just click the save your seat button below and schedule your visit!

Pastors Josh & Holly Smith

Hi, we're Josh & Holly.

We believe that you are uniquely created by God for a specific purpose, and that unless you figure out what that purpose is, you’ll never truly be fulfilled.

No one else on earth can fulfill the unique calling that God has for you.

No one else can fulfill your assignment.

Maybe you know exactly what your purpose is, maybe you’ve been running from it for a while, or maybe you have absolutely no idea where to even start looking for it…

But we want to help you find it.

Because we believe that the ones who don’t think that they can make an impact are the ones that God chooses to use to change the world.

We hope that you'll join us for a Sunday service or Wednesday night home group to experience God's presence & discover His purpose for your life as you find community & connection.
